This is a four book series and one of the best kept secrets on Kindle Unlimited. Penn Cole writes with the same plot-heavy, character-driven energy as From Blood and Ash and ACOTAR and the slow burn enemies-to-lovers between Diem and the Prince is genuinely agonizing in the best way. She has a drop of a goddess’s blood running through her veins and a prophecy tied to her fate that a power-hungry king very much wants to control.
Jennifer L. Armentrout called this the must-read fantasy of 2024 and she was not wrong. It is a Norse-inspired, gritty, action-packed romantasy with a forbidden romance at the center of it that will make you want to throw the book across the room in the best way. Freya is one of the best heroines in recent fantasy romance and Bjorn is the perfect book boyfriend.

This is the book that turned an entire generation of readers into fantasy romance fans and it is on KU right now. The world building is immersive, the enemies-to-lovers slow burn is genuinely painful, and Xaden Riorson is one of the most talked about heroes in the genre. This is one of the most well-crafted fantasy romances in the genre right now. The vampire world building is original and detailed, the tournament structure keeps the tension constant, and the enemies-to-lovers between Oraya and Raihn is one of the most satisfying in recent memory. If you have already read From Blood and Ash and need more of that world, this is exactly where to go next. It is set hundreds of years before Poppy’s story and adds a whole new layer to the world building. The romance is just as consuming and the supernatural stakes are just as high.

This is a gothic fantasy romance retelling of the Twelve Dancing Princesses fairy tale and it is atmospheric and dark and genuinely unsettling in the best way.
If you want fantasy romance with a horror edge and a mystery that keeps you guessing, this is a great pick. The romance builds slowly alongside the mystery and the gothic setting is beautifully done.

What starts as a bully romance slowly turns into something much bigger and much more complicated.
This series is nine books long, very spicy, and completely unhinged in the best possible way. The whole series is on KU which means you can read all nine books for free. This is a lighter YA-adjacent fantasy romance but it has a love triangle that is genuinely interesting and a Fae world that does not feel like a carbon copy of every other Fae book in the genre. If you want something you can read quickly between longer series books, this is a good pick.

If you read Fourth Wing and are already on this list, you need this book immediately. The world building expands significantly, the plot twists are genuinely surprising, and the emotional payoff from everything set up in Fourth Wing hits hard.
